Emma’s little bookcase is almost done. It’s made of a lot of different wood species. It’s painted white when finished so it doesn’t matter.
I had a oak stair tread from our home remodel.
I cut the tread into 3 inch strips and glued them together. This gave me the 3″*3″*8″ blocks of wood I needed to make them to Cabriole leg shape on the bandsaw.
I cut the sides and back from some left over maple plywood. Went to a big box store and bought some cheap pine trim to use on the sides and top and bottom.
.A pic with the first coat of primer. Primer is white so it gives an impression of the finished case. I will put a coat of enamel that matches my granddaughters furniture white color. Then a coat of satin clear. The back will have a piece of material put on it with spray adhesive. That’s the last step.
All finished. The back is plywood backed with material Using spray adhesive.
