Maple Dresser and Nightstands

This project involved building a dresser and two nightstands to match an existing sleigh bed the customer already owned. I went for an art deco style with beaded drawers. I used maple ply and solids, with poplar as the secondary drawer wood. Side drawer runners were made from red oak.
The customer is a Kansas University Alumnus, so I added a little extra surprise for the top drawers in the nightstand. The top drawers are faced with top trim. This makes for a surprise when one figures out they open into drawers as well.
The color is a mix of antique cherry and black aniline water dye. I experimented with the mix until the color matched the existing bed. I then finished with several coats of “General finishes Arm-R-Seal satin topcoat. Hand rubbed finish. Clicking on the crabtree woodworks logo will take you back to home page.

Your work is beautiful. I am Sheila sister, (the one married to her husband’s brother). She told me about a quilt stand with glass that you have. Do you have any pictures of it? I might be interested in getting one or having you make one I should say!
